At 686, everything we create is built to support you, our fan, wherever you go – and since we’re fans ourselves (and often our toughest critics), we hold our products to the highest standards.
We do our best at it, but we know we aren't perfect. That’s why we offer the following warranty services against defects in materials and workmanship, guaranteed to the original owner:
Practical Lifetime Warranty | 1-Year Warranty |
GORE-TEX and GLCR Outerwear* *2019 styles to present |
All Outerwear, Accessories, and Everywhere Apparel |
Please note that these warranty services can only extend to products purchased from 686.com or a 686 Authorized Dealer, in countries that we ship to directly.
What does "Practical Lifetime" mean?
The term "Practical Lifetime" refers to the reasonable lifetime of the product and its components, fabrics and materials. This does not mean for your lifetime or an indefinite period of time. While we choose the best materials to make our products as durable as possible, all materials degrade over time with use, exposure to the elements, and normal wear and tear. A product’s lifetime is a function of how much use it gets, the manner in which it's used, and how well it is cared for - not by how old it is. If you've allowed your product to degrade through neglecting it or abusing it, you have personally shortened the lifetime of your product.
What damages aren't covered by these services?
We expect that you’ll use your gear, so accidents and wear and tear aren’t covered, meaning we won't bear the cost of a repair or a replacement. The following are only some examples of accidental damage and wear and tear:
- Stains
- Fading and/or discoloration
- Rips, tears, and/or cuts
- Fabric abrasion and/or fabric pilling
- Shrinkage or other damage from laundering
- Stray threads
- Zippers and zipper components
- Waterproofing/DWR failure after extended use or storage
We have plenty of repair patches at the ready to send you for accidental cuts or tears. Please submit a repair parts request and we'll do our best to get you what you need.
Note that these services are not an extension of our returns policy, nor is it a replacement program. Dissatisfaction with the size, fit, look, or the perceived quality of your product are not warrantable claims.
How do 686's warranty services work?
It is at the discretion of the 686 Customer Experience team to review your warranty claim and determine if your product is covered by these services. Consideration is given, but not limited to, the type and nature of the product, the nature of the use of the product, the nature of the issue involved, and the age of the product.
If your claim qualifies, our team will provide the appropriate recommendation for resolution, taking into account cost, time, and the issue at hand.
Possible resolutions include:
- Sending your garment for repair performed by our best-in-class repair partners
- Reimbursing you for a repair performed by a professional local to you, in the form of a 686.com gift card or a refund to your original purchase if made at 686.com
- Replacing your product with the same product, if available
- Replacing your product with a comparable product should yours be discontinued or otherwise unavailable
- Providing you with a 686.com credit in the amount of the MSRP value of your product
